People Hate The Church Because Satan Hates Truth
Welcome backkk!! Kansas is finally turning green!! It makes me so happy!
I was reading some stuff this week and part of it stuck out to me and it was just so good that it deserved to be the title of my email this week.
Y'all this week was AMAZING!! Conference weekend and some crazy interactions! Just wait for Thursday and Friday hahah
Monday was awesome we had p-day in Manhattan! And got sonic pebbled ice on the way home LOL it's the only thing that kept me drinking water. We played some pickleball with the district, got chick-fil-a for lunch and played volleyball with some of the zone. Oh! When we were waiting for the Elders to go to pickleball we went to Marshall's and me and Goates got matching dresses.
Tuesday was trippyyyy we usually have DCM on Tuesdays but we had to switch it so the Elders could go get their windshield fixed so it felt a little strange. hahah I just remembered what I was going to tell Cj this week. Y'all me and Sister Goates are sitting in Barbara's little play room thing to hop on a lesson call with someone else (Barbara was still upstairs with Bro Behling btw we didn't just ditch her) and we're just getting distracted like no other. Goates picks up this lightsaber and starts messing with it but she doesn't know that it's one of the ones that makes noise...so she pushes the button and it goes off making all the lightsaber noises, she RUNS to the hallway with it, we're both dying laughing, this lady on the phone is yapping about why she's looking for a church or something, and oh my gosh it was soooo funny.
Wednesday we had a cool little experience while we were out knocking! This guy calls at us from across the street and he goes "Sisters!! Are y'all Sister missionaries!?" And Goates was trying to figure out if she was supposed to know him (I just work here. It's my first transfer so I clearly have never met this man) but turns out he was just a chill guy doing sales! We talked about missions and Kansas and stuff, he's from Layton but living in OK and doing sales in KS haha. But when we were talking he said something so cool! He said that he doesn't wish that he could go back to his mission because he loves his life now but he wishes he didn't take it for granted which... is pretty powerful.. and I tend to do that so just a good reminder to enjoy every minute.
Thursday... we slept in.. whoops!! OH AND IT WAS MY TWO MONTH MARK AS A MISSIONARY!! Ended up back at the chiropractor for poor Sister Goates' back hahah, did some service at a member's house and her daughter cut her own bangs WHILE WE WERE JUST SITTING THERE! Oh goodness it was so funny and this poor mom was so stressed out. We also talked to this lady out in her yard and asked if we could pray for anything for her, yada yada yada all the car contacting things and she asks us what church we go to! And when we tell her and ask if she's heard of it she goes, "...I am aware of some issues and I think you girls should really rethink the things you believe" oh perfect! So we actually won't be doing that but thank you! I just think it's so funny how she was so nice until she heard what church we're from. Oh and then later that night this old guy named Goldie was in his car lowkey flirting with us and we're like "will you take a book of mormon!" He goes "from you, yes!" We invited him to conference at the church and he says "yes if you're there I am there" well.. flirt to convert I guess!!
Friday I literally wrote in my journal "honestly just the same old stuff. Knocking and lessons" it was super rainy and gloomy and windy though. Here's the other good crazy interaction I mentioned earlier. We knock on this lady's door and this house is pitch black, I honestly didn't even ever see her face but we knock, she barely opens the door and just says "what! What?!" Goates: "hi we share messages abou-" lady: "GET THE f**k AWAY FROM MY DOOR" and slams it in our faces. We got a chuckle out of that one. Then later this little boy flashes us because he was dancing and jumping around in pants that are way too big for him and little man decided to go commando I guess. "Literally what is today" but I lean over and tell Goates "as long as everyone's hair stays the same length here we're good" good stuff.
Saturday! CONFERENCE WEEKEND!! General conference as a missionary just hits so different! I loved it!! We went to the Sparrow's and they SPOILED US!! Literally left to go get us ice cream and Alanis while we just sat and watched BYUtv, fed us lunch between sessions, ugh they are just the greatest. Then... doc drop... (aka transfer news) 9pm. We're sitting at Sonic. Goates is leaving me. I'm sad! But I'm so excited for her!! She's been here so long it's gonna be good for her to get a change of scenery. It's very bittersweet. She will forever be my first trainer and one of my very best friends (even though she's a Utes fan).
Sunday Happy sabbath and second day of conference! We went to the Behling's for the morning session and to the McCallson's for the afternoon and it was fantastic!! They both fed us so we just had tons of sweets and food allll day! My absolute favorite was Sister Runia's talk. Holy cow. The spirit was so strong I shed an actual tear. We drove around and dropped off some letters for people from Goates and that was basically it honestly hahah. I moved desks and stuff around while Sister Goates was packing all her stuff up and I think I started a load of laundry.
I want to hear about everyone's conference experiences!! How were your questions answered? What was your favorite talk! Or favorite quote! Or your top five!! I know it's difficult before they release them all on Gospel Library but I just hope y'all had the best time and felt the spirit. AND YAY FOR ANOTHER UTAH TEMPLE!!!
That's really it for the week. Never forget how much I love and miss you all!! I'm praying for every single one of you every single day! And I know God hears my prayers.
Y'all know where to find me!
