We're All Invited To Be A Part Of It!
Oh hey!
Long time no see... (I sent my last email like 3 days ago LOL)
How has it been another week already?! The time goes by so fast but so slow. Anywho let's get into this week!
The title of this week's email comes from one of our many meetings this Sunday! You guys. We go to like 5 or 6 hours of church every week. God seriously has a sense of humor because He knows how much I loved second hour at home so now He's given me like 3x that much here in Kansas! But I love Him so I love every minute I'm there — except yesterday it was ward conference for both wards so it was LITERALLY the same two hours twice.. same speakers, same talks, same lessons. Anyway we had our missionary coordination meeting which is essentially all the auxiliaries asking us how they can help the missionary efforts and one of the people from the stake said "it's all the work of the Lord and we're all invited to be a part of it!" So this upcoming week you can all be missionaries just by talking to someone about the gospel or Jesus Christ. INVITE SOMEONE TO WATCH OR LISTEN TO CONFERENCE WITH YOU! If you weren't planning on watching it yourself TURN IT ON!! It just might change your life! So I invite everyone to find a little way to share the gospel this week and participate in the work of the Lord.
Monday was so fun! Lots of volleyball (rip my Hawaii socks) and I got to talk to my family AND MY DAD DIDN'T HAVE WORK AT COSTCO SO I GOT TO TALK TO HIM. I love my dad.
We shopped a little, my mom bought me my favorite kitchen lemon hand soap and I got Panera for lunch soooo 10/10 day if I do say so myself.
Tuesday I actually did my hair so you just know it was gonna be a good day. DCM was lit, the STLs and ZLs joined us and we played some basketball after lunch which was fire. Sister Goates threw the ball from the back of the gym but I wasn't paying attention so she yells "KAYLA!!!" So that I wouldn't get hit yk? but I was like woah! Who's that?! We don't know her here. It was so funny but so trippy. I had Qdoba for the first time and found like a rock or something in my bowl — so yummy. (The rest of it actually was good, the rock thing wasn't. I spit it out lol.) And then we had little mini exchanges! I had a super cool experience with this guy named Ish and he said he'd come to church with us!! (He didn't.) We had a lesson with Barbara, ate pizza at Bro McKinney's and played with his two dogs, but he didn't have any ranch this time.
Wednesday was soooo chill!! But also a little unproductive hahah. We had interviews so we drove to Salina, interviews went great, I told President he should put Sisters in Pratt hahah. But we actually ended up staying for like an hour and a half after our interviews because the Miles said that they were taking the Elders to lunch, and a little miscommunication later we ended up going with them too. Bless Elder and Sister Miles. Also just so y'all know we weren't just like sitting there doing nothing — we called some people and actually had a lesson with this guy that we stole from the Elders lol. We came home and taught Young Women's hahah by talking about a day in our life, what we do, why we came on missions etc. Wednesdays are kind of slow for me but looking back right now it wasn't that bad.
On Thursday we were in the apartment until 2PM!!! But it's because we had to get on my mentor meeting Zoom call, and then wait for the Miles to come check our apartment. After that we went to the chiropractor for Sister Goates and the guy was super nice, asking us lots of questions about being missionaries and stuff. He asks Goates, "So what does your husband do?" (We mentioned that she should marry a chiropractor and apparently he saw she had a ring on her finger.) She goes, "My husband?! I wish I had a husband." It was quite funny.
We had a lesson with Brennah which was better than the first one and she had another friend, Dana, who we taught and said she'd come to church (she didn't). Then we went over and put Ellie on date!!!... for June. Don't get me wrong — I am all for them picking the date and being comfortable but literally in the MTC they tell you to say something like, "We think you can be ready by insert date," but when I asked what day we should invite her to be baptized on Goates just said, "Oh. We can just pick the date in there with them." So now we just pray that she wants to move it closer because she is seriously so ready, just nervous. Ugh anyway. Oh my goodness then Thursday night there was this HUGE THUNDERSTORM it was so cool and so pretty and just wow.
Friday was really chill. Had some lessons, went to sports night AND NO ONE WAS THERE! Everyone was like 25 minutes late lol but it was fun. Oh but I actually made dinner! It was super yummy.
Saturday is usually my favorite day to knock because we just invite people to church all day, but 2 lessons canceled on us, and this one lady. Oh my goodness. I'm actually so upset with her. We sat in her house and I was DETERMINED to get her to at least accept our invitation to come to church. AND SHE HAD ZERO REASON NOT TO!!!! She even said she knows how important it is to go but she'll just go "eventually." JESUS IS COMING EVENTUALLY!!! She said she's afraid of riding in the car because of an accident lots of years ago and I don't mean to come off as invalidating her feelings or her experience but y'all — she got up and drove to Walmart on Saturday... THE WALMART IS RIGHT NEXT TO THE CHURCH! IT'S THE SAME DRIVE SO JUST DO IT AGAIN! Oh my goodness it was horrible and we came home smelling like weed and smoke and it was just not my favorite.
Andddd I already told y'all about Sunday. It was okay, just a little repetitive and boring... but I got to take the sacrament so that's what matters! OH ACTUALLY!!!! Oh goodness. I swear the past couple weeks everyone's talks have been about the temple and it... is frustrating... BECAUSE WE CAN'T GO TO THE TEMPLE!!! I have cried many tears about this. The temple is too far for us to go to — it's this new rule from the Area 70 or something but it's so so sad and frustrating. SO I'm giving y'all 2 invitations this week. If you are able. Go. To. The. Temple. I miss it so much.
Anywho! That about wraps up my week! I'm so happy I'm getting this email out not only on Monday but Monday MORNING!!
I love you all SO MUCH.
Y'all know where to find me!
