Don't Waste Any Minutes
Hello Hello!!
Another week has come and gone in the good old state of Kansas. I'm so grateful to be a missionary and I'm SO EXCITED to get to continue teaching and learning and serving and just being a missionary.
I wish I had some super cool and fun experiences to share this week but if I'm being honest, the week was just a quick and busy one! I swear I just got here and now we're halfway through the transfer.
Tuesday was uneventful other than some guy trying to trip us up by asking the "so you believe you can become gods" question, which was stupid, and apparently, he's been doing this to lots of missionaries for a long time. His wife is a member and she got mad at him for asking it again hahah.
Wednesday was my very first ZONE CONFERENCE!! And guess who I ran into—(see pictures).
Oh Elder Harper. What a guy. And apparently, you get in trouble for taking pictures like this, so luckily President Barr didn't see. But during ZoCo, President Barr did talk about how "this is our opportunity to testify of Jesus Christ" so "don't waste any minutes," and I really liked that! It really is such a blessing and an honor to get to wear His name right next to mine every single day.
When we got back to Junction, we basically went straight to Barbara's and asked her, "If you knew that what we're teaching is true, would you be baptized?" And she said yes! So I told her to pray about if it's true! (Psst, we know she knows it's true. She's actually already told us she does.) So hopefully, we can get her on date here pretty soon.
Thursday was chill—truthfully, I don't remember a ton hahah—but we did help a sister make some pies! And then ate that very pie later that night at a Relief Society activity lol.
Friday we had exchanges! So we drove down to Manhattan to the STL's house at like 8 a.m., spent the day with them, did some service at Mike's (guys, he brought out a speaker and the sisters who had his phone played Noah Kahan, Hozier, The Lumineers, had some Sabrina Carpenter in there. Oh my goodness, I could've actually cried. Some of y'all don't know how badly I miss music that isn't the youth albums.)
Anyway, then we actually split up and I went with Sister Ackerson, who is so cute!! She's going home next transfer! We had some lessons with lots of people I don't know. This one lady DID NOT LIKE US!! We knock and barely get invited in, stand the whole time because her boys were sitting on the whole couch, didn’t invite us to sit down or anything, so we're just there and she has the worst attitude.
Here's the worst part. They're watching Family Feud on blast and didn't turn it off or even turn the volume down or anything. Before I let Sister Ackerson start talking to literally share a talk with this family, I go, "Can you like... turn the TV down for a bit?" "Oh. Yeah. Sorry." Respectfully... what the actual flip. I still cannot believe I had to ask her to turn her own television down WHILE WE WERE SPEAKING AND SHARING A MESSAGE WITH THEM. Absolutely wild.
Anyway! Then we had some dinner and went to get ice cream to do our exchange review. Such a good day! And I love our Salina STLs.
Saturday, obviously, we had to drive home from Manhattan and just went about our regular day. Nothing too memorable besides my hatred for 12-week (I'm trying so hard to like it, I just can't). Oh, but we did go over to the Connelley's and asked Ellie about baptism, and she said it's still something she wants!! So we invited her to pray about it! Ahhhh! Fingers crossed we can get her baptized! I can tell how badly she wants it, and I just know it'll bless her life in so many ways!!
Sunday was Sunday!! Happy Sabbath! Four hours of church plus at least an hour and a half of meetings throughout the day REALLY had me missing those Sunday naps, but it was good! AND TRENTON BECAME AN OFFICIAL MISSIONARY! That's it for Sunday, I think.
Oh, but we did have dinner at a member's house, and they had another couple over too, so I'm just chatting, and I ask how this other couple met, and they literally said Zupas. Spits out water HUHHH?! I was like, "Oh my gosh, I used to work at Zupas too!!!" Some of y'all aren't gonna think that it's that crazy, but I was flabbergasted when they told me that hahah. Then there was a Relief Society devotional that we went to, which was super fun and so cute!! NOW that's it for Sunday.
So that brings us back to Monday! P-day! We ran lots of errands, spent lots of money—it was super fun! Didn't think I'd get to talk to my family for a minute there, BUT don't fret! We did go back to the church, and I got to call them. Thank goodness. It was about to be a rough week if I didn't get to call home.
To those of you that read all the way to the end of my weeklies, y'all are real ones, and you're secretly my favorite.
If you want to shoot me an email, I just might respond!! (No promises though.)
But if you prefer a pen and paper, write me a letter!!
